Impressed Current System
Rectifier Log

Underground storage tank owners often think that once they install cathodic protection, they no longer need to worry about their tanks and associated piping corroding. Unfortunately, that’s not the case.  Cathodic protection systems must be monitored and maintained in accordance with state and federal Laws.

By federal law and state law, cathodic protection systems are required to be inspected and surveyed periodically.  The anodes installed on the UST system sacrifice and corrode to protect the tanks.  Eventually, those anodes will require replacement.

To learn more about Cathodic Protection, read Cathodic Protection-An effective answer to the tank system corrosion problem written by Tanknology's Director of Cathodic Protection, Bert Schutza, and published in the August 2000 issue of Petroleum Equipment & Technology magazine.
