Tank Trouble Tuesday
A fueling facility in Tanknology’s Midwest region requested a TankCam® inspection of a 12,000 gallon steel tank to inspect for undesirable conditions or abnormal operating conditions. The tank held regular unleaded.
The inspection found that most of the visible tank surfaces were covered in corrosion and the tank bottom was partially obscured by a build-up of sludge. The inspection also found that the tank walls and endcap exhibited areas of possible moisture staining. No water ingress was found.

A fueling facility in Tanknology’s Southeast region requested a TankCam® inspection of a 12,000 gallon steel tank to inspect for undesirable conditions or abnormal operating conditions. The tank held regular unleaded and had been cleaned by a competitor two weeks prior to the TankCam inspection.
The inspection found a considerable amount of sludge on the tank bottom and active leaks at the boots in the STP sump. The TankCam inspection also showed that the fill adapter on the tank was set too high and and was cross-threaded, which allowed additional water into the tank. The secondary piping was found to be full of water.
After the TankCam inspection, the customer requested a TankClean Remote Video Cleaning of the tank.

A fueling facility in Tanknology’s Midwest region requested a TankCam® inspection of a 20,000 gallon fiberglass tank to inspect for undesirable conditions or abnormal operating conditions. The tank held diesel and had been cleaned by a competitor prior to the TankCam inspection. After the TankCam inspection, the customer requested a TankClean Remote Video Cleaning of the tank.
The inspection found sludge covering the lower half of the tank. As the sludge and residual liquid were removed, an active water ingress was observed on the tank bottom near the fill port.
